Our ‘Up and Running’ course informs and enables trainers to benefit from the use of technology to support their training and development programmes. The course is practical and pragmatic in its design and delivery so trainers can quickly get Up and Running in the use online training methods.
Overview
The course is a 1 day classroom course combined with online support & tutoring of participants through completion of a sample e-learning tutorial* over 3 weeks.
*Candidates are requested to bring sample training materia/Powerpointl for conversion to e-learning form and delivery via an online Moodle account.
As a result of completing the course participants will be able to:
- Easily navigate Moodle for content access, publishing and use of core administation and user features.
- Set up a simple network based Moodle installation.
- Understand best practice design concepts for engaging learners through blended and online only learning methods.
- Create activities such as quizzes, discussion forums and assignments.
- Upload resources such as audio, video, PDFs, Word and other file types
- Use an authoring tool to create a tutorial.
- Be able to create courses and assign content resources to them.
- Run live online events.
- Administer courses through user enrolment, registration and assignment.
- Report on group and individual usage metrics.

- Acquire the required skills to design online learning programmes in Moodle.
- Become familiar with the WEB 2.0 concepts as they apply to online and blended learning programmes.

Prerequisites
Candidates should have a basic skill level with basic computer applications, using the internet and desktop file management.

Ciaran O'Connell
Ciarán has been an independent e-learning consultant since 2002 with 20 plus years experience using technology to deliver online training and support classroom training practices. Up to 2002 Ciaran was a senior development manager and Director of program management with SmartForce the then world leader in e-learning - now merged with SkillSoft.
With the emergence and development of rapid e-learning methods that make the creation of e-learning possible by trainers in general Ciarán views these skills as critical for Trainers to adopt in todays information society.
Ciarán holds a BSc and is a Certified Training Professional.
